The Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law enjoyed participating in this year’s Ag Progress Days, held from August 12-14, 2025, at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center. Center staff were involved in several programs throughout the three-day event, while maintaining a presence at their booth located in the Farm Credit building. Staff and student research assistants from the Center engaged directly with numerous farmers and agricultural producers, providing resources and educational materials on vital legal topics impacting their operations.

A key highlight of the Center’s involvement was Staff Attorney Jackie Schweichler’s involvement in an event hosted by the PA Small Business Development Center (PASBDC) Agriculture Center of Excellence. This free seminar, “Fields of Opportunity: Starting Your Agritourism Journey,” took place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at the Red Barn Annex. Ms. Schweichler contributed her expertise on “Legal Considerations for Agritourism,” offering valuable insights for individuals interested in diversifying their rural properties.

Also on Wednesday, Center staff participated in the Ag Progress Days Government & Industry Day Luncheon. At the luncheon, several public officials, including Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro and Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, spoke on the state of agriculture in Pennsylvania.
